Aquarius takes pride in the fact that all parts of our products are manufactured in Lancashire, UK, which allows us to ensure high-quality standards and supports the local economy.
Our very local, neighbouring company extrudes the plastic sheet. In most cases we include a very high content of recycled plastic in our covers, from 20% up to 100%. Very low shipping costs and carbon impact as we are in the same town! We also return all the scrap created from production to go back into the plastic sheet.
Once the plastic sheet is extruded and cut to size, it is placed on our vacuum forming machines. We have various mould sizes depending on the size of the tyres. The plastic sheet is warmed to a high temperature so it becomes mailable, once at the right temperature the mould is brought up to meet it, the air is then sucked away (vacuum) and the plastic hugs around the mould to create a wheel cover disc.
Our blank spare wheel covers are sent into the next production room for silk screen printing. Initially your design is digitally mocked up for your approval, once approved it is plotted on film then the plot is used to develop an image on a silk screen, much like developing a photograph. Once the silk screen is made and washed out it is placed on the printing machine. Ink is dragged across the silk screen, the ink goes through tiny holes that weren’t developed. This will then place an image in ink on the wheel cover below.
Next we sew a band. Bands are made in various sizes depending on the tyre size. We have over 60 different band sizes. In general they are all manufactured to order. Once the band is made up it is then sewn onto the hard plastic disc.
After the manufacturing of our spare wheel covers is complete, we carefully package and box them up to guarantee they are protected and ready for dispatch, ensuring that they get to you in perfect condition.
